BISMARCK, N.D. (Jan. 22, 2017) – A bill introduced in the North Dakota House would expand raw milk sales in the state, taking an important step toward nullifying a federal prohibition scheme in effect.
A coalition of nine representatives and two senators introduced House Bill 1433 (HB1433) on Jan. 16. The legislation would authorize the direct sale of raw milk and raw milk products from a producer to a consumer.
Current North Dakota law prohibits raw milk sales except in the form of herd shares that individuals must purchase, making it difficult for consumers to gain access.
